There are 2 different types of injections for the face:
Botulinum toxinum injections (Vistabel® or Botox®)
Botulinum toxinum injection relaxes the muscle responsible for the wrinkles, that gives a negative facial expression.
These injections take place at the medical office and do not replace a face-lift but can postpone it or complete it. It is a way to reduce vertical frown lines, forehead wrinkles and to raise the lateral part of the eyebrow.
The efficiency length of injections depends on treated areas and varies from a patient to another. It lasts from 4 to 6 months.
Those injections are more dedicated to young patients as well as patients in which case the plastic surgeon thinks that a most important operation is not necessary. Injections may be combined with a face-lift.
Injections of filling stuff
Injections of filling stuff aim at reducing depth of grooves, for example nasogenien grooves, or at modifying some parts of the face. Different types of injections are available, some are more fitted to be done in depth, and some are realized for superficial wrinkles. In the periorbital region, some of those products may be used to reduce tear trough.
According to the product injected, the lenght of the result will be from 6 months to 1 year. To ensure our patients comfort and safety, we never inject non-reabsorbable products.
As the botulinum toxinum, injections are realized during a consultation at the medical office in Geneva.
Indications for those injections are not the same than those given for lipostructure (micro-fat grafts), which is more a technique for reshaping the face.
